2 TIMOTHY SPEAKS TODAY

I
have been reading 2 timothy again and when I came to Chapter 3 it
looked like it was written for today. I love to study, read and
teach the Bible and it is sometimes hard to pick out sections to
write about. But after
reading Chapter 3 I took
paper and pen and began to write what I wanted to share with
you.
Paul tells us that perilous times will come. Paul give us a description
of the people living in Paul’s day, but it is also a description of
people today I think you will agree. Read the passage
below.
2 Tim. 3:1-3
“But
know this, that in the last days perilous
times
will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money,
boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control,
brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but
denying its power.
And from
such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into
households and make captives of gullible
women loaded
down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never
able to come to the knowledge of the
truth.”
The last days means that as time goes by people will get
worse and worse. As you
read this list it sounds like today. Many of these people are
running our government, businesses, schools and even homes. No wonder Paul says perilous
times will come. Paul
warns us to turn away from them. Hooking up with them will
only cause us to become like them.
Did
you notice that these women are called gullible loaded down with
sins and are led away by various lusts? They like to seek new things
but never are able to come to the knowledge of the
truth.
As I read
that I thought of what is going on today with our women who have not
had much Christian experience.
Did you know some of these facts?
Starting
January 1, 2008 Oprah began a daily feature on Satellite Radio
featuring “A Course in Miracles” - one lesson a day. This has now become the “New
Age” bible. Here are a
few statements from the course:
* There is
no sin.
* The
journey to the cross should be the last “useless
journey.”
* Do not
make the pathetic error of “clinging to the old rugged
cross.”
* The name
of “Jesus” is just symbolic of all the gods to which you
pray.
* The recognition of God is
the recognition of yourself.
* The “atonement” is the final
lesson man needs to learn, for it teaches him that, never having
sinned, he has no need of salvation.
This
should come as no surprise in these latter days as the Bible is
clear that some will not give heed to sound doctrine but rather
listen to the doctrine of demons (2Tim.
4:3,4).
Oprah
claims to be a Christian but has said, “I am a Christian who
believes that there are certainly many more paths to God other than
Christianity.” I hope
that you will not in any way listen to her when she expounds on her
beliefs or get involved in her book club. The book now in her book
club, NEW EARTH, is
Satan’s ploy.
