Text Box: VITAMINS FOR THE NEW YEAR
Dear Friends,
As I thought of the New Year I was reminded of how I ought to be ready. However, my thoughts gravitated to my spiritual readiness more than the physical. I have my snow shovel and enough food in the house along with extra water, but am I thoroughly prepared for my spiritual health?
I take plenty of vitamins. How about you? I want to keep healthy in my physical body. But have you ever thought about spiritual vitamins? My friend, Susan, gave me the idea. We both took off in different directions after discussing them. She gave a talk on them and I am writing about them. You know we can all use the same ideas, but no two persons will do things the same way or say the same thing. So here we go!
VITAMINS FOR THE SOUL = VERSES FROM THE BIBLE
Vitamin A - Are you taking your ATTITUDE vitamin today? That vitamin will help you when the “disease” of trials comes to you. Know that God will handle the difficult times in your life or the deep sadness? 1 Cor. 10:13 is your vitamin A. Knowing God is faithful and always makes a way of escape will make you spiritually healthy.
Vitamin B - This vitamin is your BEHAVIOR. This vitamin will help you have good behavior toward God and man. Everything we do should bring glory to God and show the love of God to those around us. Obeying the Word of God, the spiritual B vitamin, will make your behavior what it should be.
Vitamin C - This vitamin is your COMPLETENESS in Christ. When you take this vitamin you know that it is all you need to be right with God. You will know that you have right standing (righteousness) before God. You do not need anything else or anyone else to have eternal life and be complete in Jesus. Jesus alone is all you need! He is your vitamin C.
Vitamin E - EVERY PROMISE made to those in Christ is yours if you will claim them. These verses are so precious I want to put it all here for you. Peter is telling us in 2 Peter 1:2-4 something that will give us spiritual health. “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES, that by these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” Knowing that we have the divine nature within us and that we have the promise that we can escape all evil and sin in this life is the spiritual vitamin E that ought to make us full of joy.
Everyone wants physical health but do they always want spiritual health? How do we take our spiritual vitamins? We cannot put them in our mouth to get into our body. But we can put them into our life through our minds. What we read and hear goes into our minds. What we think is how we act. The Bible contains all the vitamins that we need to have a healthy long spiritual life. To be healthy spiritually is to have peace and joy. “For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” Rom. 14:17.
Are you taking your spiritual vitamins today? They are even more important than your vitamins for your body. God does, however, want us to take good care of our bodies so we ought to exercise and eat good food. But it is more important that we take our spiritual vitamins because they will not only make us healthy now but after we leave this earth they will take us on to heaven.
Our spiritual vitamins are free. We can get them instantly from the Bible and take as many as we want. The more we take the more we will become healthy for God. HAVE YOU TAKEN YOURS TODAY?
